Effective working partnerships are integral to the way the Department of Education delivers high quality education. As a result, the department is recruiting members for the Local Community Engagement Body (LCEB).

The aim is to assist the Department of Education to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, to elevate their voices and utilise cultural protocols and knowledge in schools through a process of co-design.

The phases of engagement are respectful and informed by local community expertise to help guide discussions and outcomes.

The LCEB model aims to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Queensland state schools.
